Shutter plot
Darwin, an experienced photographer who always uses a compact camera, is horrified to discover that a woman's shadow appears in every photo he takes. Soon, the woman appears in person and begins to terrorize him. His friend Pia investigates and discovers that the woman's name is Lilies, a brilliant student who once attended their university—and that her appearance is connected to a sin from Darwin's past.

A bit long-winded, but the idea itself is well-developed. It's not new and could definitely be better. You know it's not in English beforehand, so you shouldn't judge it. It does ultimately illustrate how economic classes sometimes operate, and that's true everywhere, unfortunately. But... karma is a bitch!

After America made a remake of it nearly twenty years ago, it is now suddenly up to Indonesia, out of nowhere, to give it a new twist. However, director Herwin Novianto chooses to present almost exactly the same story, thereby sacrificing a significant portion of potential suspense. Moreover, the acting is nothing to write home about; only Vino G. Bastian holds his own reasonably well against the somewhat bare and underdeveloped script. The first half-hour contains a few noteworthy moments, but after that, Shutter enters territory that is already (literally) familiar to the seasoned fan, and then you are mostly just waiting for it to be over.
