Shriek is not yet made in the period of all the lame parodies that have come after Scary Movie. This is also noticeable in the kind of humor, especially in the beginning of the film everything is wonderfully dry, nonsensical and above all not logical at all. A barrage of jokes is fired at you, half of them don't arrive. But because so much is coming at you, there is still a lot to laugh about.
Yet the formula in this film seems to be used up after more than half an hour. The film collapses like a plum pudding and then goes out like a candle that is far too long. At some point there is simply nothing to laugh about the film anymore. Too bad, a missed opportunity. Scary Movie is still a king.

A Film that would like to piggyback on the success of Scary Movie. At least, so it seems.
Shriek isn't nearly as fun, though. A barrage of jokes is fired at the viewer in the hope that there is something funny every now and then. That is the case every now and then, but with an emphasis on every now and then. Especially in the countless puns, there is sometimes a successful pun in between. The way Prince is portrayed in this film by colleague Coolio is still funny.
Still, the funny jokes can be counted on one hand and the film lasts quite a long time, because the second part of the film has nothing to offer at all, unless you want to watch Tiffani Amber Thiessen.
