Strong thriller with a pretty sick atmosphere and good acting. Hopkins has a pretty psycho role in this film and Skarsgard doesn't do bad either. The question always remains with these kinds of films whether a film that takes place in 1 location can remain interesting for an hour and a half, but in this case it works out very well. At first I thought it would be an hour and a half too much of the same, but in the last half hour it gets pretty gruesome when Hopkins himself appears. I seriously think this film is highly recommended, unexpectedly too, I actually had no expectations of it at all.

Your standard low budget thriller/horror. Phone Booth meets Saw. It's predictable, but the actors manage to bring the film to an acceptable level.

Good and original thriller about a man who is completely exhausted by the crime in his city and by the crooked justice system. It's been since Don't Breathe that I was so strongly on the side of the 'psycho'. In Don't Breathe the vigilante flew off the rails towards the end, but in Locked he is actually right about the whole line. Excellent acting by perpetrator and victim and sufficient variation throughout the film. Wonderful to see that the worthless father and recidivist, Eddie, has understood the message at the end and is going to improve his life. Great work by William, who achieves better results here than the average street worker.

Locked

A car thief, Eddie Barrish, gets trapped in a high-tech SUV and must use all his might to escape, while facing unexpected dangers and his own choices.

Locked is a strong thriller that takes place almost entirely within the cramped space of a car. I am always up for these kinds of films. The build-up is short: Eddie quickly gets trapped in a luxury SUV, after which it becomes clear that a certain William is behind it.

What follows is a tense game of cat and mouse in which William tries to break him using inventive torture methods and a healthy dose of obligatory self-reflection. The tension builds slowly but steadily, and the hopeless situation Eddie finds himself in makes everything even more tense.

Bill Skarsgård delivers an impressive performance; he manages to convey the desperation and frustration convincingly. Of course, you can question William's motives, but whichever way you look at it: he does manage to open Eddie's eyes.

Although Lockedis not a profound masterpiece, the film still manages to captivate with its strong atmosphere and acting performances.

3.5 stars
