When his wife leaves him for another man, Dr. Charles Kessler's life is disrupted. However, his wife is very close because after a car accident in which she damaged her brain, she is cared for by Kessler's gardener in the basement. Just as a murder has been committed in Kessler's house and an innocent man is convicted, his twin brother arrives from South America and tries to unravel the mystery.
