Reasonably entertaining horror comedy. Funny that this production is directed by the director of New Kids. That second film also had a horror comedy element. The Swedes don't really come off well as a people. The problem with the film is that the path of the horror comedy genre has been completely flattened. The result is that almost everything seems familiar. The film is actually a comedy variant of a cross between Wicker Man and Midsomnar.

The concept is quite good, the actors do well but the execution is disappointing. It is entertaining but unfortunately not really funny anywhere. It is almost as if the concept itself has to be funny but that is not enough. It is also a very exaggerated concept of course that you do not think about whether that is also the case in real life but it is funny. The roles are reversed in this satirical folk horror film. Unfortunately there are few to no scenes that are special when it comes to humor or horror. I can not remember much of this film now.

British couple Richard [Nick Frost] and Susan [Aisling Bea] have booked a supposed B&B on the Swedish island of Svetla during the annual 'Karantan Play', which normally does not welcome outsiders. Son Sam [Sebastian Croft] and Jessie [Maisie Ayres] are also in attendance, but the family does not receive a warm welcome. What follows is a pathetic parody of the legendary British horror film The Wicker Man. A total failure.
