The prequel of Versus. I found Versus a bit disappointing, but I watched this one anyway, mainly because of the nice playing time.

The subject is interesting anyway, the chasing of people. The film also contains quite a bit of atmosphere, also because of the gray colors and the soundtrack. Also some nice effects and camera shots make the film more enjoyable. The acting is nothing special, but it can pass.

Content-wise, story-wise and background-wise, it's all very thin. A few anonymous people hunt down another anonymous person, but become the prey themselves. Fun for once.

Down to Hell has some nice effects and fitting camera work here and there, but actually getting through it was quite a challenge. The whole thing has a too serious tone and the characters are barely provided with color to be fun. In fact, every character is made of cardboard and they fail to attract the viewer's attention. When they then meet their end, it is bloody, but so poorly designed that it makes little difference. The creative urge of director Ryûhei Kitamura ensures some unexpected moments, but that is also the main compliment that can be given here.
