Quite fun, but certainly not a special horror film. The story itself is quite funny, but at the same time too standard that machines come to 'life' thanks to lightning, or at least do something that was not thought possible. This Chopping Mall, also called Killbots, gets off to a bit of a slow start, but eventually manages to increase the pace after the lightning strike. After that it is also a smooth film in which the robots are nicely put together and the way they work is also fun. 'Thank you have a nice day' after someone is murdered it's all just made very funny. The shooting with those lasers was also hilarious and reminiscent of the Star Wars films. The bloodshed is a bit on the sparse side, but the way the robots work makes Chopping Mall a fun snack.

Wonderful 80's Science Fiction Slasher with an accessible comedy content!

The title is misleading because no one is "chopped" but rather stalked by laser-armed "Security bots".

Always nice to see Barbara Crampton have a major role! One of my favorite actresses within the horror genre.

The story is simple, effective and exactly how I like to see it in these types of videos! The acting is very 80's. The gore is unfortunately quite minimal, but all in all this is a wonderful cult classic within the 80's horror that makes my heart beat slightly faster.

Simple and fun ending!

"Thank you, have a nice day!"

☆3.0

This is a classic eighties slasher with a fascination with technology and AI. Films with such topics naturally remain current. Here too, a battle between humans and the AI that turns against its inventor. Excellent setting in the shopping mall that fits in with a spirit of the times in which the urge to consume is only increasing. It is a very short film with the emphasis on action and that is not a bad thing. It's not really exciting, but it is very entertaining (e.g. the exploding head is a nice effect). Chuck Cirino's soundtrack is great. Sounds like new wave and was first released on vinyl a few years ago. This also points to the cult status of this film, which has steadily expanded its audience over the past 30 years.
