Tomaz, an ex-serviceman now homeless in London, is offered a place to stay in a dilapidated house inhabited by a young woman and her ailing mother. He is soon overcome by two emotions: love for Magda and the uneasy feeling that something insidious is also present. Is it just the bad condition of the house? Is it the terminally ill mother he never gets to see? Or is there more to it?

Immigrant Tomas [Alec Secareanu] has nightmares about the time when, as a border guard, he found an amulet and nearly shot an emotional woman. Then suddenly he ends up in hospital (or something) with a bloody head and Tomas meets sister Claire [Imelda Staunton]. At that moment there is already no way to make sense of this, which makes the rest of the film a tough one, despite the empathetic playing of Secareanu, a pleasantly sinister Staunton and some visually beautiful moments.

Unstable, messy horror film that barely manages to captivate. Not badly played and attractively portrayed, but script and characters fail to intrigue. Unfortunately, it doesn't want to get really scary either. The most notable aspect of the film is that it is directed by actress Romola Garai, best known for costume dramas.

An incomprehensible cheese with holes in which the makers apparently thought it was of no importance to tell an understandable or credible story within the context. What is this? Horror, mystery, fantasy, psycho-thriller? A little bit of everything apparently. It starts atmospherically with a somewhat strange young man at a barrier in a forest who - quite by accident - digs up an amulet. That amulet hardly plays a role anymore, but as the film progresses - and I've already dropped out to try to discover a somewhat logical connection - it only becomes more absurd. The film must mainly rely on the atmosphere in that dilapidated house, but it never gets scary or creepy. Actually, the lock is the most fun.
