Army on the Tree plot

In the final days of the Pacific War, two Japanese soldiers, a high-ranking officer and a local recruit, shelter in a banyan tree during the Battle of Okinawa. They come down only for food. Unaware that the war is over, they wait two years for reinforcements. Differences in rank, worldview, and motivation clash and then merge.
