A mediocre film that, for example, loses out to its fellow film Out of the Past. Desperate is very standard. The camera work is not special and the actors certainly not. I would almost call it studio mass production, maybe that's what it is. The strange thing about this film is that the story is drawn out over a long period of time of several months. That does not benefit the credibility of the film in advance, if you consider the situation in which Steve finds himself.

The idea behind the film is not bad, but the execution leaves much to be desired. In general, I was more interested in the story of the bad guys, who were more interesting to follow. The crazy adventures of the two protagonists go in all directions and therefore come across as somewhat exaggerated/unbelievable. Raymond Burr and the drama surrounding his brother still make up for enough for me to give him just a passing grade.
