A combination of different storylines and video clips of Michael Jackson. But is the villain up to Michael Jackson's special magical powers?

Completely made for the commercial market.

You could actually expect what kind of movie it was going to be. More focused on the show than the story. Seen this with a few Jackson admirers. It was logical that they liked it. But I myself have nothing to do with the person Michael. In this sequence of video clips I found Smooth criminal funny, but nothing more. Joe Pesci is always kind of cool.

So 1.0 for Smooth Criminal and Joe Pesci.

Even with my metal heart I've always had a soft spot for Michael Jackson, his music and dance moves. Thriller and Bad have been neatly stored (on vinyl) for several years now. Moonwalker on the other hand is a funny music film, which is certainly fun to watch for the fan. It is also clearly made for (young) fans. I can imagine that not everyone is waiting for this, however. The video clips are well known and the short stories are fairly in line with that. It's a fun glimpse into Michael's fantasies. For example, I think the stop motion scenes are pretty cool, but the music appeals to me more. Nice document, but it is clearly outdated.

I don't know if you can call this a movie. The first half consists mainly of compilation films of Michael Jackson's video clips. The second half consists of a weird movie in which Michael Jackson has to take on a diabolical drug dealer in the form of Joe Pesci.

The highlight of Moonwalker is undoubtedly the video clip “Smooth Criminal”, which can be seen here in its full version. For the rest, Moonwalker is an unbalanced film that is more like Michael Jackson's ego tripping.

Michael Jackson was a musical genius and it is well known that geniuses sometimes do strange things. This movie is a good example of that. What Michael Jackson really wanted to achieve with this is unclear and the message he wanted to convey has certainly not reached me.
