"The joy of friendship. The Magic of Christmas."
After losing her partner, Julie has to work overtime to keep her business going. She has to send her son Gavin to camp so he isn't home alone. Their neighbor Irene tries to strike up a conversation, but Julie pushes Gavin into the car. Julie tries to show Gavin on the bright side, but he's not interested in the camp or their Christmas activities. At the community center, Gavin runs into Irene, who is counting the days until her grandson, Doctor Miles, returns from a military hospital.
