Vom Fischer und Seiner Frau plot
A poor fisherman lives in poor conditions with his wife Ilsebill by the sea. One day the fisherman catches a bone, which is actually a cursed prince. The fish begs for his life, whereupon the fisherman immediately releases him. Ilsebill doesn't understand why the fisherman didn't ask the prince in return for his release. She wants her husband to go to sea again and ask the fish to give him a better home.
