Tracy Beaker is a 12-year-old child who has lived for quite some time in a shelter called 'The Dumping Ground', so named by her because her mother left her there. Single woman Cam becomes enamored with Tracy and decides to adopt her. However, on the night before Tracy's thirteenth birthday, her real mother shows up.
