Afraid of being left alone as the youngest of the family, Sam starts his self-invented solitude training during his holiday on Terschelling. But the encounter with the elusive Tess, who carries a big secret, draws him into an adventure that makes him realize that you should cherish your family instead of fleeing. It is a youth film whose acting is not always top level and the first part of which will also appeal to youth more than adults, but the story about Sam, Tess and her father develops so fascinatingly and the theme is so strong and mature (about death and that you are best prepared for loneliness by saving many memories of being together) that the film effortlessly fascinates, grips and moves adults as well. The film becomes more and more exciting and gripping; handsome adult crossing the finish line without tears.
In short, a beautiful film that even as an adult film is worth a very good four stars.

What a beautiful movie this is. A strong story, beautifully executed. I like that the film is really about something. It's not superficial. I think that children, but also adults, can get a valuable message from it, and it is not a film that leaves you unmoved. At least not me. Very well played, and a nice holiday atmosphere. An 8. 4*
