Malibu Rescue plot
The story is set on Malibu Beach in California. When Tyler gets into trouble through a slew of pranks, he's forced to train all summer for an elite lifeguard program. He must team up with his friends and take on snobbish local kids to achieve his goal.

Oh well, it is predictable, but somehow, due to the short running time, it isn't a terribly unpleasant experience either. The cast acts reasonably well, and even though the jokes don't work in many cases, the atmosphere and feel-good factor were high. It is a typical film that could have come out in the 80s; unfortunately, the film plays it a bit safe, but you could certainly do worse.

Naturally, this is nothing highbrow; it doesn't seem intended to be either. I watched it mainly because these kinds of films easily combat boredom these days, and besides, it only lasted 70 minutes, which is remarkably short for a film like this.
Is that running time accurate? No, it isn't. This film uses a lot of clichés and morals, and crams it all into a very short runtime. As a result, it often feels a bit sloppy and chaotic. Sometimes it even seems as if the film skips parts.
It is also all quite predictable (naturally) and the characters are all very stereotypical. Just about everyone who appears here plays the kind of role we see in every other youth film. Fortunately, however, it is performed with sufficient dedication and enthusiasm by the cast themselves.
The final act is just a bit too sweet and predictable, but the movie is reasonably entertaining and, moreover, doesn't last long. It's a shame that they cram a few too many clichés into the film, making it feel sloppy as a whole and, above all, rushed. So you see, some films can be too long, but they can also be too short.
It is funny to see Ziering again, by the way; he is apparently heading in a different direction since his shark films. The rest of the cast will surely grow later on, perhaps play a famous Disney character, and reach a wider audience that way.

To keep Tyler [Ricardo Hurtado] in line, his parents [Jeff Meacham, Catia Ojeda] force him to participate in the Malibu Junior Rescue program. Tyler is quite keen on a few weeks at the beach, but soon discovers that this is no lazy vacation. He is paired with three caricatures featuring the cliché of the dumb blonde [Jackie J.
