Komugironotenshi Suzume to Shonen plot

A village at the foot of Mount Fuji in Japan. Sabu is the most rambunctious child in the village. He is looking for a playmate for Sunday and because he cannot find anyone else, he chooses Kenishi, a sickly boy. Sabu and Kenishi play "Spaceship" near a large tree next to a temple, which is their secret place. Suddenly they hear two gunshots and see two sparrows falling. Five boys without parents remain on the roof of the temple. The boys decide to care for and raise them.
