Shiro, a 45-year-old lawyer, is a good cook and a conscientious and frugal person who keeps the monthly food budget at 25,000 yen. Shiro's daily routine is to leave on time and go to a cheap supermarket nearby. He shares a two-bedroom apartment with his friend Kenji, the 40-year-old affable barber, and the finer points of two cohabiting men come up to the dinner table every day.
