"A funny catch!"

The story is set on the Greek island of Spetses, where widower and Greek history professor Thomas Bradley is losing his research material on ancient love spells. He knows he is close to an academic breakthrough and with the courage of desperation wants to continue his research. For Thomas, it's his last chance to complete his searches on this Greek island surrounding the home of Oxford professor Coulter, who lives there. Accompanied by his 12-year-old daughter Serena, Thomas leaves for the island to gain the necessary inspiration for his thesis. Serena, however, finds that her father most needs a new love in his life. First she tries to link Thomas to a local beauty, but when that doesn't work she starts looking in the old love spells. As a result, she meets the very beautiful mermaid Nereid. But evil is also present in the form of the local fisherman, Captain Stavros, who intends to kill Nereid in order to lay his hands on her priceless jewels and pearls.
