Klas is the best of his rowing team. While rowing, he discovers the cycling Rieke and to impress the girl he increases his stroke frequency. This will damage his skiff. His trainer, who has long had enough of Klas's ego-tripping, seizes this to link him to the newcomer Heiner. Klas sees his chance at medals evaporate and rebels.
