The story is set high on the Blue Mountain, where it becomes increasingly difficult for the young Queen Blaurose to live quietly within the confines of the blue gnome community. When she discovers that a dangerous glacier threatens the valley of the Blue Mountain and with it the countless lower living red gnomes, she sets out to find the blue horn. This is a magical tool capable of changing the weather. This device can be crucial in saving the red gnomes.
