Zvezda Plenitelnogo Schastya plot
On December 14, 1825, some officers refused to swear eternal allegiance to the new Tsar. In this way they wanted to force political reforms. The uprising was crushed and the leaders sentenced to death or exiled to Siberia. To the Tsar's horror, a number of women of noble descent traveled after their husbands.
