Zoku Ueru Tamashii plot
Direct sequel to Hungry Soul. Reiko and Mayumi are two friends who deal differently with the changed relationships in society. Reiko is still married to an older, wealthy industrialist. Though he suspects she is having an affair, he demands her loyalty in marriage. The widow Mayumi, on the other hand, increasingly demands the role of a free-spirited woman. She opens a ryokan sauna and refuses to conform to the traditional demands of her new friend Shimotsuma. Her children support her in this. When Reiko has to go on a business trip to Hokkaido with her husband, she promises her lover Tachibana her love when she returns home, but fate has gripped both relationships.
