The East Side Boys leave the Big Apple and head to California to seek fortune. They prefer not to work for their money, but in the end they work for an old Italian woman who treats her workers kindly, unlike the other farmers who often treat their migrant workers even worse than animals. Her son disappeared as a baby and one of the youngsters in the group decides to convince her that he is that baby, hoping to get her inheritance. After a while, he is so moved by her kindness that he changes his mind and tries to help her when the truckers form a union and try to prevent her crop from being delivered to the market.
