A disaster changes the happy life of the Parisian policewoman Marie Lamare, overnight. She is just on her way back from the infirmary when she and her colleague Jean see a car racing through the city at high speed. They start the chase and force the driver to stop. When Jean wants to see the man's papers, the whole situation escalates. Without any warning, the driver takes a rifle and shoots both of them. When he hits Marie in the shoulder, she returns fire.
