Wild Iris plot
"Sometimes life is harder than death."
After her husband Ronnie's cowardly suicide, "wild" Iris (Laura Linney) and her son have no choice but to move in with her critical and domineering mother Minnie (Gena Rowlands), who blames Iris for Ronnie's death. 8 years later, Iris still lives there and makes wedding dresses for pregnant teenagers for her mother's shop. In addition, she takes refuge in vodka and constantly lives with her thoughts on weddings and with it her own failed marriage. Her son Lonnie has meanwhile grown into a lonely and shy teenager. He tries to avoid the arguments between mother and grandmother by withdrawing into his own world of cowboy movies and novels. In this way he hopes to understand the death of his father. When suddenly a second tragic event is about to happen, it is time for Iris to choose: continue with her life or fall back into misery...
