When You Remember Me plot
Mike Mills suffers from muscular dystrophy and is confined to his wheelchair. He knows he doesn't have long to live, that he will probably never live to be twenty. Nevertheless, he has a strong zest for life. However, his mother Joanne is solely responsible for raising Mike and her three other children. She is struggling financially and is forced to transfer Mike to an institution. For Mike, that's quite a turnaround. He ends up in a care home where the majority of the patients are elderly. No television set, no recreation and soon he is given tranquilizers. Deep down he longs for the day when he can leave the dull, dreary place.
