What Will People Say? plot

Persis Cabot, the daughter of a multimillionaire, meets the young officer Harvey Forbes and falls in love. However, she cannot marry him because of her father's financial misfortunes. She then enters into a marriage of convenience, but her husband is a womanizer who makes her unhappy. Despite his infidelity, he is possessive of Persis and, driven by jealousy, tries to kill her, but Harvey decides to help.
