A train arrives from the South African province of KwaZulu-Natal, carrying four people to the sprawling city of Johannesburg. Zanele, a young dancer, takes the little girl Zodwa to her mother Thobeka who, contrary to expectations, has not become a famous singer, but runs a bar with her partner. Thobeka is a rather unpredictable mother. Nhlanhla places all his hopes on his wealthy cousin Xolani who has promised him a job. His naive confidence is severely tested. Finally, there is Nkulu, who has come to collect his father's dead body so that he can be buried at home. Nkulu faces some unexpected obstacles. The paths of all these people cross repeatedly during their short stay in this corrupt metropolis.
