Public prosecutor Robert (Peter van Eyck) has all the evidence against the murder suspect Werner (Claus Holm). His pre-sounding victory is shattered when Laura (Eva Bartok) stands up in the public gallery and provides Werner with a watertight alibi. Robert does not trust the case and deepens his investigation further on his own. However, his enemies have left a closing trap for him, so that in no time he himself is in the dock on suspicion of murder.
