The life of a hopeless generation is lightly sketched in an unconventional, absurd way. Victorine lives, together with her possessive mother, who would rather have exchanged her for the pleasant African neighbour, and her drunken father who wanders forever, in a desolate suburb of Marseilles. When she meets the petty criminal Petit-Paul, she initially seems to be having a good time with him.
