Tormento plot

Anna lives in Naples with her father and stepmother. She is very unhappy because her stepmother prevents her from living her own life. She loves Carlo. The girl flees her cruel stepmother along with her lover, who ends up innocently in prison. She and her child wait in poverty for him to be released from prison.
