Time Out of Mind plot
"CHAINED TO A MAN SHE DARED NOT LOVE!"
Waitress Kate Ferald falls in love with Christopher Fortune, the son of a wealthy shipping magnate from Maine, New England. Christopher is also captivated by Kate, but in the 19th century a marriage with someone outside his own environment is not allowed. Knowing that their relationship can have no future, Kate encourages Christopher to marry someone from his own social class. As the years go by, Kate sees that Christopher appears to be succumbing to an alcohol problem due to frustration and grief.
