Thursday's Child plot

Sam Alden, the 17-year-old high school baseball star, seems to have it all. However, his family notices that he often coughs. His concerned parents decide to take him to the hospital, where they are shocked to discover that he has a life-threatening heart disease. Sam struggles to cope with his illness, but he claims he is still a joyful teenager so as not to make his parents more concerned than they already are. His health is declining and it turns out he needs a heart transplant to survive.
