The Weaker Sex plot
Life on the Home Front during World War II. Martha Dacre tries to get her household back to normal at the start of the D-Day landings. She has to deal with several boarders while her son and daughter are away while serving in the Navy. She herself chose to continue working as a housewife. When her son's ship is damaged during the landing, she begins to regret not taking a job with the military herself.
