The Spite Bride plot

Tessa Doyle, an innocent country girl who has come to New York and joined a vaudeville act, becomes embroiled in a money-making scheme at the urging of her partner Trixie Dennis. When millionaire Billy Swayne is dumped by his fiancée, Millicent Lee, he and his friend Rodney Dolson get drunk and decide that Billy should get married that night. Tessa agrees to marry Billy so Trixie can use the money to get a divorce.
