The Rose of Blood plot
Lisza Tapenko is a governess in Prince Arbasoff's household. After his wife's death, he and Lisza become romantically involved, but due to their social status, he refuses to marry her. Lisza's former lover, Vassya, convinces her to join the revolution, and she travels to the group's headquarters in Switzerland. But the prince's young son begs Lisza to be allowed to return, so he pursues her and marries her.
