The River That Holds Our Hands plot

Po Wah, born in Vietnam in 1950 to Chinese parents, was separated from her family when war broke out while visiting relatives in Cambodia with her grandmother. Although bound, she returned to China as a teenager and soon found herself caught up in the chaotic period of the Cultural Revolution. A documentary filmmaker and member of the Teochew ethnic minority group took an old black-and-white photo with her and set off for Ho Chi Minh City to find Po Wah's former home.
