The Red Pony plot
Carl (Henry Fonda) is a ranch owner who wants to keep his property in the family at all costs. He wants to see his 10-year-old son Jody (Clint Howard) grow up to be a strong man. The boy thinks his father is a cruel, insensitive person. He finds only comfort in his mother Ruth (Maureen O'Hara), who wants to teach him to understand his father's character. Hoping to improve their relationship, Carl buys a pony one day.
