The Promise of Love plot

Kathy Wakeman drops out of college to marry her lover, a Marine. Much to her chagrin, he perishes during the Vietnam War. The naval command wants to send her back to her childhood home, but Kathy finds a new job at the naval base. She gets a lot of support there from Lorraine and her new boss Sam Daniels.
