The Price She Paid plot
After the death of her father, Mildred Gower is forced to marry the wealthy old General Siddall. Due to the general's selfishness, the marriage fails and Mildred leaves her husband behind in Paris. After returning to the US, she meets Stanley Baird, a former suitor who offers to finance her music studies in a business proposition. Mildred must pay Stanley back when she wins an opportunity to sing on a concert stage. She lives a life of luxury and neglects her work until Donald Keith, a friend of Stanley's, accuses her of being a reserved woman.
