The Outcast plot

Great Britain, shortly after World War II. Ten-year-old Lewis Aldridge struggles to cope with the death of his beloved mother. His father Gilbert, who is particularly aloof, soon remarries, forcing Lewis more or less to keep his feelings to himself. He finds friendship with the girls next door, Carmichael, Tamsin and Kit. They also do not have it easy with their very dominant father.
