The Millionaire Vagrant plot

Millionaire Steven Du Peyster has little sympathy for the poor. He bets lawyer Malcolm Blackridge that he can easily survive on six dollars a week. To win the bet, Steven moves to the slums. There he befriends shopgirl Ruth Vail. Steve discovers Malcolm is exploiting the poor when Ruth is arrested on suspicion of prostitution. During the trial, Malcolm's malpractice comes to light when Ruth reveals she is a detective. After Malcolm's arrest, Steven decides to adjust his preconceptions about poverty with Ruth at his side.
