The Man Who Was Nobody plot

James Tynewood, a slick young man from the city, tries to buy an expensive diamond with a cheque that bounces. He disappears and both the police and his lawyer try to find him. The lawyer hires private detective Marjorie Stedman for this, but Tynewood is soon found dead on the banks of the Thames. However, the case seems far from over.
