The Magician of Lublin plot

Poland, towards the end of the 19th century. Yasha Mazur is an illusionist from Lublin who travels through Eastern Europe with his performance. He shares the bed with many women, including the voluptuous Zeftel, but also with his young and jealous assistant Magda. Yasha is convinced that he will be able to perform the greatest trick ever - flying like a bird - and his manager Wolsky manages to arrange an audition for him in the Alhambra hall in Warsaw. Also in Warsaw he meets an old love again, with whom he plans to leave for Italy soon. Yasha becomes more and more entangled in a web of lies, love, ambitions and impossible dreams...
