The Lost City plot
"A place you leave is a place that lives forever."
Havana, Cuba, is a bustling city in 1958 with lots of fun to be had for those who can afford it. But underground, the opponents of dictator Fulgencio Batista unite. The wealthy Fellove family belongs to the first group; eldest son Fico even owns El Tropico, the most beautiful nightclub in the city. Yet the revolutionary idea wins out over wealth, because one by one, Fico's brothers let themselves be won over to the cause of Fidel Castro and Ernesto "Che" Guevara. Fico fears for the future of his club under the new regime and struggles with how to keep his family and great love. Together with his comic family friend and writer, he has to watch as Cuban culture fades and people change instantly. Fico is swept up by the sweeping developments of his country and becomes involved in the revolution much more deeply than desired. In the end, Fico even has to ask himself whether he can work any longer in his beloved nightclub.
