The Little Riders plot

A young American girl named Joanne Hunter ends up in the Netherlands with her grandfather and grandmother during World War II. The German officer Commander Kessel begins to ravage the small town of Kerkendam and places Lieutenant Braun with Joanne's family. Braun's feelings are torn by his duty and his distaste for Kessel's methods of war. When Kessel tries to take away the pride of the village, the lead statues in the church tower, the villagers revolt.
