The Kingdom of Love plot

After her parents' divorce, Violet Carson goes to Alaska with her father. After his death, Violet has to work as a waitress in a poorly reputed dance hall. Nevertheless, she manages to maintain her honor. Young gold prospector Frank Carson has his eye on Violet. When he shows her a portrait of his mother, Violet immediately sees that it is a portrait of her own mother. She turns down Frank's proposal without giving him a reason. Shortly afterwards, Frank receives the news that his mother is seriously ill and that she needs an expensive operation.
