The Jazzman plot

"Music. Hardship. Love."

The story follows the life of jazz drummer John Kadly (Sevier); his early childhood, his youth, his romantic life experiences and his struggle to fulfill his calling as a jazz percussionist, while living in the shadow of his musical father Bernie (Ironside), the jazz legend. His work is monotonous, but then he meets a young percussionist, Sara, who can change that. He takes her to a local jazz club and, in order to impress, plays something for her. Miles, a rising legend, sees John playing and considers hiring him as his drummer.
