The Impossible Mrs. Bellew plot
Lance Bellew is having an affair with Naomi Templeton. However, when he sees his wife Betty with a friend, he shoots him dead out of jealousy. Betty sacrifices her good reputation for the sake of their young son and declares at the trial that Lance killed him to save his honor. The jury acquits Lance, but the judge also rules that Betty, as a degenerate mother, is no longer allowed to see her son. She then leaves for France, where she meets the author John Helstan.
